FOODIE FIND: WATTS FARM

Watts Farms is a family farming business, begun by Donald Watts in 1952 which now farms over 600 hectares, in Kent, Essex and Bedfordshire. They employ more than 200 people and supply over 500 restaurants (70% of them fine dining) with 60 crops.

Like many other others within the foodservice sector, Watts Farms has had to pivot to home delivery, to try to survive.

For anxious consumers, let down by supermarkets which they have shopped with for many years, the arrival of farms and foodservice companies to home delivery has been a lifesaver.

Some farms and foodservice companies are just supplying essentials, but Watts Farm has a big range of food, including 1.5kg of Marriage’s self-raising flour for 1.99, a big selection of cheeses, La Tua fresh pasta, Paul cakes and tartelettes and meat, poultry, eggs, alcohol, even loo rolls. UPDATE If you give them enough advance warning, they can personalise the Paul fraisier cake.

UPDATE Delivery area has been expanded. You can order in London, Kent, E Sussex, Surrey, parts of Essex, W Sussex – just stick your postcode in on the website, to check. Delivery is £4, minimum order £50

Everything we have eaten from the order so far, has been wonderful. Not organic, but frankly 200% better than Pikt. If Watts Farm decides to keep supplying the public, we will be able to try all those cheeses ! From people with family members working for the NHS, we were pleased to see that Watts Farm donated food to NHS staff at Maidstone and Royal Tunbridge Wells
