Out for a drive last summer, we found a single track lane, so little used, that grass was growing in a strip up the middle. We haven’t been able to find it again, since. It came out near Wingham , a village near Canterbury, Kent and we discovered Gibsons Farm Shop. Fortunately, we did find an alternate route. To avoid getting lost, input CT3 1NY in the trusty satnav.

This Foodie Find incorporates a cafe and garden centre and an impressive deli counter with lots of cheeses, many from local producers like Kingcott Dairy and Rowcliffe

Bread comes from Wingham’s bakery E T Wilmhurst & Sons, just a mile up the road. and Zingiberi Bakery in Herne Bay, provides cookies and crackers.

Biddenden Sauce from Harringtons Food is a Kent speciality which isn’t really well known, but rather good and if you can’t get to Gibsons Farm Shop, it’s available online.

Kent Crisps are stocked by the farm shop and they are really rather tempting. They are stocked by the Battle of Britain Memorial’s awesome cafe at Capel-Le-Ferne and by Salts Farm Shop at East Guldeford, near Rye.

The butchery counter at Gibsons Farm Shop is stocked with the farm’s own Aberdeen Angus beef, pork and lamb and there’s a friendly helpful Master Butcher, to help you choose your meat, which you can have prepared in front of you. The bacon from the farm’s pigs is home-smoked, the burgers are hand-made and the sausages (gluten-free included) are prepared in natural casings. In season, the butchery has game supplied by Turners of Littlebourne

Gibsons Farm Shop carries those upmarket Cook ready meals as well as Kentish Mayde pies and deliciousness from Simply Ice Cream

The farm shop has an array of gin, wine and beers made in Kent, including Shepherd Neame (Britain’s oldest brewer) and Biddenden wines

A foray was made to Gibsons Farm Shop today (28/08/20) for lamb leg steaks, pork chops, gluten-free Cumberland sausages and asparagus (shown in main photo).
